Dr. Kim is the Director of the Neuroscience Graduate Program and Professor in the Departments of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics. The long-term vision of Kim Lab research is to understand the organizational principles of different cell types and cerebrovasculature in the brain to support cognitive function and its changes in brain disorders such as autism and Alzheimer’s disease. Three Independent, yet Interrelated Research Topics: We pursue three major projects: 1) examining the neural circuit basis of the oxytocin system to support diverse behaviors and its changes in neurodevelopmental disorders, 2) investigating the structural organization of the cerebrovasculature and related cell types to understand brain energy homeostasis, and its changes in normal and pathological aging, 3) creating 3D atlas frameworks for developing mouse brains and mapping spatiotemporal changes of neuronal and glial cell types during brain development.
